News of the Week
Fourth of July 2025
The holiday started off with a hiking session. Back at Thunderbird Conservation Park, first time since January. I started at the Pinnacle Peak Road parking lot. Traveled the Arrowhead Point trail. I went up for speed, not slowing down. A mile in 25 minutes, elevation gain 467 feet. At the top of the mountain is a permanent flagpole. I stayed there for a while, taking pictures and talking with people. On the way down, I took my time taking pictures of plant life. I vectored onto the Coachwhip trail and eventually made it back to The E. 2 miles in 52 minutes. Afterwards, breakfast at the Waffle House. The Hostess remembered me from Christmas 2024 and New Years Day 2026. Good meal. Went home and relaxed for the rest of the day. I walked down my street and around the block to watch my neighbours launch their 100% legal fireworks, which were not Roman candles nor did not launch into the nighttime sky. Overall, a very good Independence Day.
